How the numbers are worked out
The area is the flat blank the carton is cut from — (L + W + 6) × (W + H + 4) × 2 — not the six faces of the finished box.
The 6 cm and 4 cm allowances cover the glue lap and the flaps. They are fixed in centimetres, so inch input is converted first.
Wastage scales the board sheet, since that is what gets cut and thrown away. Top and bottom covers are priced per finished carton, matching how converters quote them.
